Scott Air Force Base is home of Air Mobility Command's "Showcase Wing." A very dynamic and Joint Total Force environment.
The primary mission of Scott AFB is global mobility. The base commands and controls all logistics of United States military in air, over land and across the sea. Team Scott sets policies and executes all air mobility operations.
The installation is responsible for providing United States aeromedical evacuation capabilities, fly operational support airlift in the C-21, and air refueling missions in the KC-135. Scott Air Force Base supplies forces to theater combatant commanders.

-We are a 100% volunteer run organization, with every dog living in a wonderful foster home from the day it becomes a part of our rescue until the day they get adopted into an amazing forever home. All of our dogs get neutered or spayed, are given all state mandated vaccinations, are microchipped, and if needed, receive other major veterinary care such as surgery or treatments.
-When a dog becomes a member of Peace for Pits, it becomes a member for life. We are here for continued support for each adopted dog. We stay in frequent contact with each and every adopter to assure they have all the knowledge and tools to care for their four legged family member. -We do all of this to make sure each dog lives a life of PEACE.

We are a true RESCUE. We pull animals on their last day of life at animal control facilites and we work with Animal Welfare Agencies at the City and State level regarding the abused and neglected, so that they may find a true second chance within our adoption program.

For two very special hours only, dogs are allowed in the Chicago Botanic Garden. Cleverly costumed canines march the parade route to celebrate Halloween. Spectators are invited to line the parade route for a barking good time. Note: Viewing the dog parade is free. If you are bringing a dog, however, you must purchase paid registration for your dog, whether or not you enter the parade and costume contest.
In addition to the parade, activities include the costume contest, judging, and an awards ceremony. Costume categories include Best Costume Overall, Best Dog/Owner Costume, Best Puppy in Costume for dogs ages 1 and under in people years, Best Senior in Costume for dogs ages 10 and older in people years, and Best Horticultural Interpretation.
Nonprofits and vendors from a variety of local pet supply shops will share information and sell dog-related products. The parade steps off from the Krasberg Rose Garden, where the activities and costume contest take place. Night of 1,000 Jack-o’-Lanterns is the only event of its kind in the Chicago area. The LED-lit jack-o’-lanterns will be staged along a festive, paved pathway, starting at the Esplanade. Along the way, encounter entertaining characters, watch live carving, and view the ghostly trains in the Model Railroad Garden: Landmarks of America. Purchase light snacks and drinks such as cider and ale on the Esplanade before you head onto the path. Along the path, stop over at the Regenstein Fruit & Vegetable Garden for more hearty seasonal fare. Event is held rain or shine.
